Approved Safety Checkpoints


It shall be the policy of this law enforcement agency to implement a traffic safety checkpoint program. This will be done as part of a comprehensive enforcement program. To ensure standardization of this program, a clear and concise set of written guidelines has been developed governing procedures on how checkpoints will be operated within this jurisdiction.

The following is a list of approved traffic safety checkpoint locations.

  • 1. KY 15 N. at Grapevine between mile post 19.459 and 20.735.
  • 2. KY 28, gravel pit, 2/10ths mile west of mile post 13.555.
  • 3. KY 267, Dice - Jct. Of KY 1146, mile post 9.310.
  • 4. KY 476, Homeplace Stretch - Ary, Ky.
  • 5. KY 699, Jct. Of KY 463, mile post 4.832.
  • 6. George’s Branch Road, approximately five hundred (500) feet off KY 15 South at Vicco, Ky.
  • 7. KY 1095 at Kodak - Montgomery Creek.
  • 8. KY 2021 and KY 451, intersection at Willard.
  • 9. KY 80, 2/10ths mile west of mile post 4.378.
  • 10. KY 2022 and KY 28 in the Squabble Creek/Buckhorn area.
  • 11. KY 476 and KY 80, connector at Dwarf.
  • 12. Perry County Park Road.
  • 13. KY 1088 - Lotts Creek at R & R Transmission after business hours.
  • 14. Daniel Boone Parkway East of mile post 51.026.
  • 15. KY 550 – Chaney Lane Intersection at Airport Gardens near the old R&R Transmission Building.
  • 16. Lick Branch Road at Combs.
  • 17. KY 476 – Bomber Lane Intersection across from The Town & Country Animal Clinic.
  • 18. KY 15 Business / North Main Street at The Riverview Diner.
  • 19. KY 476 – Hardburly Road Intersection in Bulan.
  • 20. KY 484 at the 1.5 Mile point Marker at Saul.
  • 21. KY 7 at the 6.2 Mile point Marker at Viper.
  • 22. Krypton-Lickbranch Road Approximately 2 tenths of a mile from the junction of KY 451.
  • 23. Gorman Hollow Road approximately 2 tenths of a mile from the junction of Ky. 451.
  • 24. Ky. Hwy. 2446, at the junction of Ky. Hwy. 2446 and Francis Branch Road, at mile point 3.
  • 25. Junction of Ky. 15 South and Ky. 476 North in front of the old K.S.P. Building in the Hazard City Limits.
  • 26. Ky. 1088 (Lotts Creek Road) at the junction of Feltner Lane. This is at the three (3) mile marker on Ky. 1088.
  • 27. KY. 80 at Combs, approx. .15 miles from the Ky. South ramp onto Ky
  • 28. Ky. 267 at Bonnyman, approx. .2 miles from the intersection of Ky. 15 and Ky. 267 at the parking lot of the First Creek Baptist Church. In the area of Latitude 37 17.670, Longitude 83 14.037.
  • 29. Ky. 15 at Jeff, .3 miles South of the intersection of Jim Combs Trail. In the area of Latitude 37 17.122, Longitude 83 12.746.
  • 30. Ky. 550 at the intersection of Crawford Mountain Road
  • 31. Ky 15 and KY. 1095 intersection at the entrance to Vicco. In the area of Latitude 37 12.533, Longitude 83 03.559.
  • 32. The intersection of Oakwood Ave. and Main St. in the limits of the City of Vicco, Ky. This checkpoint is located at GPS coordinates 37.13.047 North and 83.3.637 West.
  • 33. Route 1146, GPS coordinates 37.21517/83.12398, near the Lost Creek Fire Dept.
  • 34. Entertainment Drive and Hull School Road.
  • 35. Approximately .5 miles up Ky. 1440, more commonly known as Upper Second Creek Road.
  • 36. The intersection of Raccoon Creek and Glomawr Stormking Hollow.
  • 37. Approximately 0.5 miles up Ky. 1440, Upper Second Creek Rd, Darfork, across the railroad tracks next to a church.
  • 38. Intersection of Ky. Rt. 7 and Ky. Hwy. 1165, Maces Creek.
  • 39. Approximately 1 mile up Glomawr Stormking Hollow in the Glomawr Community.
  • 40. The intersection of Entertainment Drive and Hull School Road in the parking lot of Fugate’s Bowling Alley.
  • 41. Rt 1146 GPS 37.21517/83.12398, Lost Creek Fire Dept.
  • 42. Cherokee Hills Road under train trestle
  • 43. HR9006 Exit 56 Off Ramp to KY 451
  • 44. KY 451 and Couchtown Road
  • 45. Main Street in Hazard at Hazard Furniture
  • 46. KY 451 at Town Mountain in Hazard
  • 47. Big Willard Road at Church of Christ
  • 48. HWY 7 at Intersection of HWY 699 at Rameys
